Corporate social responsibility

We want to be the best possible partner to all our interest groups and act in a responsible manner for the benefit of our environment. Our most important task is to increase the long-term value of the sites in a sustainable way and generate added value for all business parties in the long term. Samla Capital is a responsible recognisable and long-term actor. At the same time, we want to help our society and environment through charity outside our investment activities.

Samla Capital is funding the building of a school for 200 children in Bangladesh

In August 2017, Myanmar’s army attacked Rohingya Muslim villages, forcing hundreds of thousands of Rohingya to leave their homes and flee persecution abroad. Most of them settled in Cox’s Bazar in southern Bangladesh, forming the world’s largest refugee camp, Kutupalong, within a few months. Approx. 600,000 people live in the Kutupalong camp, and many smaller Rohingya villages are nearby.

We are making a donation through Fida International and funding a school building for 200 children next to the Kutupalong Refugee Camp. The building is scheduled to be completed during 2019. Fida’s local partners are responsible for the building and operations of the school. The new school building will expand the area’s current school’s premises by adding at least two classrooms, an office and accommodation facilities. At the school, the children of the refugee camp receive the desired protection, security and instruction that support the children’s future.

Toward greener building construction

We are also worried about our environment and the state of our climate. As a company that invests in real estate, we can also have a great impact on that state. We have started using green energy in the properties that we manage to reduce the energy footprint of the properties. We continuously invest in the development of our sites, including also improving their energy efficiency.

Sports is an important part of people’s well-being

Exercise and sports are close to hearts of Samla’s owners – indeed, one of our founders is a former Olympic skier. We want to help people find the healing power and joy of exercise, as well as assist young, ambitious athletes as they progress toward their goals. We support local sports clubs and actively participate in the fund raising and sponsorship activities in the sports world.

Samla Capital offers encouragement to young people

In spring 2019, Samla Capital granted more than a hundred scholarships to primary school children in Jyväskylä. With the scholarships, we want to encourage young people to do well at school and root for them to achieve and surpass the set goals.
